Proceeding contribution from Clive Efford (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 26 October 2010. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Transport (Investment).

Transport (Investment)

Will the Secretary of State provide some clarification of the Prime Minister's comments at the CBI yesterday—reported in today's media—where he seemed to give a commitment to building the Thames gateway bridge, which, as the Secretary of State will be aware, was abandoned by Mayor Boris when he was first elected? That seems to suggest a lack of communication between City Hall and No. 10. People in south-east London are demanding that something is done about the daily congestion that builds up at the Blackwall tunnel. If the Secretary of State is in communication with the Mayor, will he consider that option since many local people are demanding that something is done about that daily nightmare?
