Proceeding contribution from Lord Murphy of Torfaen (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 1 December 2010. It occurred during Grand Committee proceedings (HC) on Comprehensive Spending Review.

Comprehensive Spending Review

On the contrary, my constituency, as far as unemployment is concerned, did better in the last dozen years—until just before we had the problems with the banks—than it had done in the previous 30 years. There is no question about that. The unemployment rate in my constituency fell dramatically, and there were more people in work in Torfaen than there had been for 30 or 40 years.
