Does my right hon. Friend accept that, in this year’s election, many Welsh constituents—in particular those voting Liberal Democrat—thought that there would be no increase in VAT, that there would not be rapid cuts to public services and so voted in good faith for something that did not happen? Now, they find that a quarter of their MPs are to be cut. Those facing the biggest cuts will have their ability to respond to that lie taken away. That is absolutely disgraceful.
