Proceeding contribution from Jonathan Evans (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 1 December 2010. It occurred during Grand Committee proceedings (HC) on Comprehensive Spending Review.
Comprehensive Spending Review
I should like to follow up the point made by my hon. Friend the Member for Cardiff Central because many of us have been lobbying on this issue. The Secretary of State for Transport made it clear at the time of his announcement that he has to make a decision about whether rolling stock, particularly engines, should be fully electric or hybrid electric or diesel, and on that may turn the issue of electrification, primarily because of the challenge of electrification in the Severn tunnel.
