Proceeding contribution from Eilidh Whiteford (Scottish National Party) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 1 March 2011. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Aid Reviews.
Aid Reviews
Last week I was in Ghana with the all-party parliamentary group on agriculture and food for development. Members of both Houses observed for themselves the critical importance of agriculture to not just the sustaining of livelihoods but the potential for economic growth in developing countries. I noted the Secretary of State's concern about the Food and Agriculture Organisation, but what strategic role will agriculture play in DFID's plans for the future?
