Proceeding contribution from Lord Jenkin of Roding (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Monday, 20 June 2011. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Localism Bill.
Localism Bill
Without wishing to prolong the debate, I should like to endorse what the noble Lord, Lord Beecham, has said and to thank my noble friend for the swift acceptance of two of the substantial amendments to which I have put my name on the Marshalled List. When I had the opportunity to discuss matters very briefly with the Minister’s right honourable friend the Secretary of State, he said that he thought that we were going to be able to reach accommodation on some of the points that had been made at Second Reading. My noble friend has done exactly that, and I express my gratitude.
