Proceeding contribution from Lord Freud (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Thursday, 13 October 2011. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Welfare Reform Bill.
Welfare Reform Bill
We are not taking this area lightly. Iain Duncan Smith has set up a Cabinet committee for social justice which is looking at interventions across the range. It is taking these matters extraordinarily seriously but on a much more holistic basis. I can assure the noble Earl and all noble Lords here that we are not tidying this issue away; we know that it is all-important. We are trying to get a set of interventions right across the piece that will make a difference.
