Proceeding contribution from Lee Scott (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 22 February 2012. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Sri Lanka (Human Rights).

Sri Lanka (Human Rights)

I agree with my hon. Friend. I will personally go to the Human Rights Council to try to ensure that that happens. I will be with other hon. Members from all parts of the House. The Americans have explicitly stated that if the internal mechanism is flawed and accountability is not addressed, they will put pressure on an international mechanism to probe human rights abuses. I ask my hon. Friend the Minister whether we can support the Americans at the UN in Geneva.
