Carbon dioxide targets
Following the ‘Earth Summit’ last year, the UK agreed to limit emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) to their 1990 levels by the year 2000, due to concerns over the possibility of global warming. The Government is now developing plans to meet this target.
This POSTnote looks at current and future trends in UK CO2 emissions and how the commitment for 2000 might be met.
