Release of GMOs
DOI: https://doi.org/10.58248/PN010
Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) have already found many uses in industry. Now applications are being developed in agriculture and other sectors, which depend on GMOs being used in the open environment. Current controls on such ‘releases’ are being extended through part VI of the Environmental Protection Bill, currently before the House of Commons.
This POSTnote describes GMOs, their applications, potential risks and control, and related issues which are relevant to the Bill.
