F-35 Aircraft

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, whether the Link 16 communication channel for data sharing between F35B and older UK aircraft is a more secure data sharing channel than the BACN; and if he will make a statement.

Answer

Link 16 and the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node are both secure and encrypted systems. The Link 16 communications system is interoperable with other UK platforms and can communicate, securely and encrypted, with platforms such as Typhoon or the Queen Elizabeth Class carrier.
