Radicalism: Universities

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment she has made of trends in the level of extremist activity on university campuses since October 2023.

Answer

The Government is committed to tackling those who spread views that promote violence and hatred against individuals and communities in our society, and that radicalise others into terrorism.

We remain vigilant to the risk of extremist activity across all parts of society, including in higher education settings where individuals may be particularly exposed to harmful narratives, and we continue to work closely with partners to understand and respond to emerging risks. This includes engagement with local Prevent and Department for Education stakeholders to identify events and speakers of concern and providing advice and assistance in disrupting these where appropriate.
