Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the Defence Investment Plan, published on 30 June 2026, page 26, what is the full scope of the land lethality pipeline programme.

Answer

The Defence Investment Plan commits £400 million to deliver a suite of inexpensive, expendable autonomous systems and weapons to rapidly enhance the lethality of the Army, Commando Force and Special Forces.

The Land Lethality Pipeline will be focused on delivering rapidly increased lethality in the range bracket of approximately 0-100km. This could include the types of capabilities commonly seen in use in Ukraine (e.g. radio controlled First-Person View drones, fibre optic First-Person View drones, 'dropper drones,' and beyond line-of-sight missile systems), as well as more novel emerging technologies and protection such as counter drone defences). The precise nature and balance of these options will be announced at a future date.
