Summer Internship Programme
- Question
-
To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, pursuant to the answer of 4 September 2026, to Question 19364, on Summer Internship Scheme, what was the deemed social class of a trade union official used by the Cabinet Office, for the 2026 Fast Stream Summer Internship programme.
- Answer
-
Socio-economic background is determined by an applicant’s responses to questions designed by the ONS related to parental occupation when the candidate was 14. In line with other schemes of this nature across the public and private sector, The Cabinet Office uses self-certification for the socio-economic data of applicants. This is the same approach taken under the programme's predecessor - the Summer Diversity Internship Programme - from 2010 to 2023.
