Eden Project: Morecambe
- Question
-
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, pursuant to the answer of 4 September 2026, to Question 20093, on Eden Project: Morecambe, what assessment she has made of Lancaster City Council's capacity to act as the sole accountable body and financial guarantor for Eden Project Morecambe following the pausing of Lancashire's Local Government Reorganisation.
- Answer
-
An assessment of Lancaster City Council’s role as Accountable Body, alongside the wider funding arrangements and deliverability was undertaken as part of the approval of the project’s business case. The Government’s £50 million investment in Eden Project Morecambe is funded through the Local Regeneration Fund. This funding is unrelated to the current pause in the programme of Local Government Reorganisation. The Department continues to work closely with the council as project delivery progresses.
