Woking Community Hospital: Energy

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps his Department is taking to (a) increase energy-efficiency and (b) reduce energy bills at Woking Community Hospital.

Answer

The Government has provided substantial support to National Health Service trusts to increase their energy efficiency and to reduce costs. In 2025/26, we worked in partnership with Great British Energy and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero to invest £130 million in solar and battery storage projects, with funding allocated to 260 NHS sites. This was in addition to the £66 million invested in energy efficiency and decarbonisation schemes through the NHS Decarbonisation Fund across 84 NHS trusts. These investments are set save trusts over £300 million on their energy bills. All NHS trusts in England were eligible to put forward schemes.

In 2026/27, a further £25 million has been available through the Great British Energy solar scheme. The application window closes on the 22 June. Successful applicants will be informed over the summer.
