Air Force: Reserve Forces

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether there are any plans to use reserve officers as combat pilots in the RAF along the lines of the US National Guard.

Answer

There are no current plans to use reserve officers to fly combat aircraft. However, RAF reserves provide pilots and other aircrew for air transport such as the CI30 Hercules and C17 Globemaster aircraft.
