That this House proposes an annual Senior Citizens Awareness Day in celebration and commemoration of the massive contribution made by ordinary people throughout the 20th century which has resulted in the greatest period of social, industrial, technological and scientific progress in the history of the United Kingdom, together with the highest sacrifice of life in two world wars; and honours and congratulates all those people for their unique contribution to the most rapidly changing period ever witnessed and recognises their sacrifices, endurance and fortitude, together with their indomitable spirit, which transformed and bequeathed to its citizens the bright prospect of a new 21st century.

That this House notes with considerable concern that communities up and down the United Kingdom are becoming bombarded with mobile phone mast applications, often repeatedly so; further notes that the 10 point guidance by the industry to regulate and regularise such applications is more honoured in the breach than the observance; further notes that it is now almost five years since the Stewart Report dealt with health-related issues and, because concerns are increasing and scientific understanding has moved on and the output of such masts have increased, calls upon the Government urgently to look again at planning guidance in relation to mast applications and to recall the Stewart Committee in order that health aspects of mast applications can be reassessed.

That this House is appalled at the high level of crime committed against wildlife in England and Wales, in particular that against protected species such as badgers; praises the work of police wildlife crime officers and other bodies and individuals through the initiative Partnership for Action against Wildlife Crime; is concerned about reports of people who have been cruel to wildlife and who have then gone on to commit crimes against other people; and therefore calls upon the Government to take tougher action for the protection of wildlife, the prevention of wildlife crime and the successful detection, prosecution and punishment of those who commit such crime.

That this House notes the excellent effort on the part of the people of Leicester and the British public in general, together with the international community, to ameliorate the effects of the Asian tsunami; welcomes the proposed appointment of Bill Clinton at the UN to continue this effort; is concerned that of the $1 billion of aid pledged, some $900 million will have been paid back to the West by Sri Lanka and Indonesia alone, under current international trading conditions, according to Dr Daleep Mukarji of Christian Aid; believes this outlines the need to think more seriously about striking an equitable balance between free and fair trade and that it is only by addressing this structural element of world poverty that the Make Poverty History initiative will be truly realised; and calls on the Government to use its presidency of the G8 and the EU to take a leading role in this regard.

That this House is concerned at poor nutrition in school meals highlighted by a recent Barnardo's report; notes that, of all the school meals examined in the preparation of this report by a qualified nutritionist from the Food Commission, none met nutritional guidelines; further notes that the School Meals and Nutrition Bill introduced by the honourable Member for Croydon Central, with cross party support, will require that schools provide only healthy options to children; further notes that the nutritional quality of school meals would be the subject of inspection and reporting under the provisions of the School Meals and Nutrition Bill; and therefore urges the Government to ensure that time can be found for the Bill to be debated.
