Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Baroness Hoey (Labour), on Wednesday, 27 June 2012, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 9 members in total.
RENEWAL OF ENERGY CONTRACTS
That this House recognises that many businesses are undergoing challenging times; notes that as few as seven per cent of businesses switch energy suppliers each year, despite the substantial savings that they can make; further notes that many businesses are unaware of when their energy contracts are due to renew and do not recall receiving renewal letters; believes that more ought to be done to ensure that customers are aware of the terms of their contract renewal, including renewal letters being sent by recorded delivery; and urges the Government to encourage swift action from Ofgem through its Retail Market Review.
