G.E.C. OPENSHAW (MANCHESTER) STRIKE

That this House congratulates and fully supports striking trades unionists at GEC Openshaw (Manchester) who in the face of attacks on jobs are standing firm and united; and supports their demands for (a) the opening up of the books at GEC to expose mismanagement, (b) a National Shop Stewards Conference to spread the action if necessary, (c) organisation of meetings and levies to support the strikers and (d) public ownership under democratic workers' control and management of such companies as GEC.
