Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Terry Lewis (Labour), on Wednesday, 27 October 1993, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 12 members in total.
CANCELLATION OF NEW ROAD PROPOSALS
That this House applauds the decision of Her Majesty's Government to abandon the hugely unpopular proposed M1 to M62 link road in West Yorkshire; welcomes also the recent decision to withdraw the M6 to M62, Stage 2, link of the ill-conceived Greater Manchester Western and Northern Relief Road; notes that the Secretary of State for Transport claims to have been persuaded against these schemes by adverse public reaction; and now, therefore, calls upon him to treat the M62 relief road proposal in similar fashion by cancelling it forthwith.
