Jane Griffiths: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on changes in the number of trained personnel in the Army since 1997. [221309] Mr. Caplin: In April 1997 the number of trained service personnel in the Army was 101,360. In January 2005, the latest period for which figures are available, the number was 103,560.
