US Prisons in the EU

Question: My Lords, on the British involvement, we know that a number of the suspected flights have refuelled in this country. These are all covered by US/UK agreements, signed and negotiated either during or immediately after the Second World War and renewed every 10 years, in almost all cases without parliamentary debate. Can the Government give an assurance that next time the US/UK agreements come to be renewed, they will receive proper parliamentary scrutiny in both Houses?

Answer: My Lords, I am not sure that I am in a position to give that undertaking, but I can certainly see the merit of the argument and I will pursue it.
