Departmental Consultants

Question
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much was spent on external consultants and advisers by (a) his Department and (b) each (i) non-departmental public body and (ii) executive agency for which his Department is responsible in each year since 2005.
Answer

Details of spending on external consultants for the Treasury and the Debt Management Office is shown in table 5 of Annex A to the Treasury's 2009-10 resource accounts, which is available from"www.hm-treasury.gov.uk"The Asset Protection Agency, which was set up on 7 December 2009 spent £1,856,000 in 2009-10 on external consultants. There was no such spending by the Royal Mint Advisory Committee.
