Departmental Consultants

Question: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much was spent on external consultants and advisers by (a) his Department and (b) each (i) non-departmental public body and (ii) executive agency for which his Department is responsible in each year since 2005.

Answer: Details of spending on external consultants for the Treasury and the Debt Management Office is shown in table 5 of Annex A to the Treasury's 2009-10 resource accounts, which is available from"www.hm-treasury.gov.uk"The Asset Protection Agency, which was set up on 7 December 2009 spent £1,856,000 in 2009-10 on external consultants. There was no such spending by the Royal Mint Advisory Committee.
