Mr. Redwood: To ask the President of the Board of Trade what is the tariff levied by Germany on imports from (a) the United Kingdom, (b) Switzerland and (c) Japan of mechanical engineered products.[28918] Mr. Nelson: No tariff is levied on imports from the United Kingdom nor on Swiss goods qualifying for EC-EFTA--European Free Trade Association-- preference. Other Swiss products and products from Japan are charged the tariffs laid down in the Community common customs tariff. Current rates are contained in Commission regulations (EC) No. 3009/95, Official Journal L 319 of 30 December 1995. Most mechanical engineered products are classified from chapter 84 onwards.
