Answer

Mr. Ieuan Wyn Jones: To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list those areas, by unitary authority, where air quality breached the limits set by his Department during 1997. [31742] Mr. Win Griffiths: Information is not available in the form requested. A summary of air quality information recorded at national automatic monitoring sites in Wales, during 1997, is presented in the table in the form of the national air quality descriptors--`low' pollution, `moderate' pollution, `high' pollution, `very high' pollution. The breakpoint between `low' pollution and `moderate' pollution corresponds to the national air quality standards set out in the National Air Quality Strategy. _________________________________________________________________________________________________.
