This followed the discontinuation of the variable premium scheme at the end of 1991. The market price is therefore now the producer's total return. {2} Figures are derived from auction market information obtained from a sample of Welsh markets. The prices shown are liveweight averages for finished steers, heifers and young bulls. Note: The 1996-97 figure will be published in `Welsh Agricultural Statistics 1997' available in March 1998.
