Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, what further advice he has had from the Advisory Committee on Packaging on progress towards meeting targets for increased recycling and recovery of packaging. (In Library DEP 00/253).

Answer: Mr. Burgon: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what further advice he has had from the Advisory Committee on Packaging on progress towards meeting targets for increased recycling and recovery of packaging. [93821] Mr. Meacher: I am grateful to the Committee for further advice, which among other things, seeks a more rigorous approach to implementation through introduction of quarterly compliance reporting and forward planning for increasing recycling and recovery of packaging waste. I shall be including these proposals in the consultation paper on inter sectoral share out and other matters which I hope to publish very shortly. Copies of both documents will be placed in the Library.
