To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to his Answer of 3rd November 2003, 412 c425W, on infantry battalions, what discussions he (a) plans to hold and (b) has held with representatives of the Scottish infantry battalions prior to producing the Defence White Paper.

Mr. Carmichael: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence pursuant to his answer of 3 November 2003, Official Report, column 425W, on infantry battalions, what discussions he (a) plans to hold and (b) has held with representatives of the Scottish infantry battalions prior to producing the Defence White Paper. [138203] Mr. Ingram: There are currently no plans to hold discussions with representatives of the Scottish infantry battalions, prior to producing the Defence White Paper; nor have there been any recent discussions with them. Representations have, however, been received from representatives of a number of battalions throughout the United Kingdom.
