Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, how many and what category of NHS staff have been called up as army reservists in the last four weeks. - Including figures and list.

Answer: Mr. Burstow: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many and what category of NHS staff have been called up as Army reservists in the last four weeks. [89789] Dr. Moonie: In the four weeks prior to 9 January, 33 NHS staff were called up as Army reservists for involvement in Operations in the Balkans, and in preparation for possible operations in the Gulf. The NHS categories involved are: Environmental Health Officer Consultant Anaesthetics and Resuscitation Doctor Nurse Ophthalmic Nurse Specialist Pharmacist Directorate Manager of Anaesthetics Theatres and Intensive Care Unit Misuse of Drugs Inspector Consultant Haematologist and Physician Senior Registrar Consultant Surgeon Consultant Gynaecologist.
