Answer: Mr. Connarty: To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what assessment she has made of the level of internet access in the UK; what plans she has for universal access; and if she will make a statement. [192505] Ruth Kelly: I have been asked to reply. Opportunities to get online are almost universally available. 58 per cent. of the population are now regular users of the internet and 52 per cent. of UK adults now have internet access at home. With more than 6,000 UK online centres, over 99 per cent. of households are within 10 kilometres of public internet access.
