Proceeding contribution from Lord Kingsland (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 28 June 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Criminal Defence Service Bill [HL].

Criminal Defence Service Bill [HL]

I have no alternative but to withdraw my amendment at this stage, because I am informed by the Deputy Chairman of Committees that that is the position. The noble Baroness did not address the issue I raised at the end, which was that it was absolutely clear from what the noble and learned Lord the Lord Chancellor said in the debate on 7 December that the Lord Chancellor would be responsible for legal aid issues.
