Proceeding contribution from Lord Waddington (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 6 July 2005. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Equality Bill [HL]..
Equality Bill [HL]
The language of Clause 3 is plain. It says:"““The Commission shall exercise its functions under this Part . . . with a view to the creation of a society””." There is no precedent whatever for that sort of language, as the noble Lord knows perfectly well.
