Proceeding contribution from Lord Livsey of Talgarth (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 18 October 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Commissioner for Older People (Wales) Bill [HL].
Commissioner for Older People (Wales) Bill [HL]
moved Amendment No. 6:"Page 12, line 16, at end insert—" ““( ) as to the relevant organisations with whom the Commissioner shall co-operate for the avoidance of duplication of functions.”” The noble Lord said: Amendment No. 6 inserts a new provision regarding the relevant organisations with whom the commissioner shall co-operate for the avoidance of duplication of functions. Page 12 does not give sufficient information and this amendment is to avoid duplication. We want to ensure that there is no room for awkward things to happen. We note, in particular, that the equality commissioner, for example, is not listed in Schedule 2, although we have tabled an amendment to put that right, and we hope that there will not be any confusion.
