Proceeding contribution from Lord Livsey of Talgarth (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 18 October 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Commissioner for Older People (Wales) Bill [HL].
Commissioner for Older People (Wales) Bill [HL]
I can understand where the Minister and the Assembly are coming from, but we wanted to ensure that there was no loophole in the discretion with regard to the commissioner’s effectiveness, that the commissioner’s duties were quite clear and that he carried them out as well as possible. We do not see a lot of room for compromise in that regard, but I have heard what the Minister said and shall withdraw the amendment for the time being. I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn.
