Proceeding contribution from Lord Goodhart (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Lords on Monday, 5 December 2005. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Terrorism Bill.

Terrorism Bill

We on these Benches accept the necessity for some legislation and where we believe that there is such a necessity we wish to make it as effective as it properly can be. Therefore, there is nothing inconsistent with our attitude in proposing amendments that would, in a small way, strengthen the provisions of the Bill. However, this is a small issue which is not worth pursuing at any great length. I therefore beg leave to withdraw the amendment Amendment, by leave, withdrawn.
