Proceeding contribution from Lord Davies of Coity (Labour) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 13 December 2005. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Terrorism Bill.
Terrorism Bill
I am sorry, but perhaps there is a misunderstanding. The noble Lord is suggesting that someone has been held for 90 days and then released who is innocent. The whole purpose of the exercise—is it not?—is that there is sufficient suspicion and the evidence must be compiled to secure a conviction. It involves only those people who are likely to be there for 90 days.
