Proceeding contribution from Jeremy Corbyn (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 20 December 2005. It occurred during Ministerial statement on WTO Conference (Hong Kong).

WTO Conference (Hong Kong)

Does the Secretary of State accept that many people are very sad that food dumping policies will now continue for several years more, with the attendant problems for agriculture in the poorest countries in the world? Will he also assure the House that in the discussions before the end of next year, no pressure will be put on the poorest countries to force them to lift import restrictions on manufactured goods from the western world or to privatise public services, which seems to be part of the agenda behind the NAMA—non-agricultural market access—proposals originally put forward?
