Proceeding contribution from Lord Clinton-Davis (Labour) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 1 March 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Company Law Reform Bill [HL].
Company Law Reform Bill [HL]
Before the Minister replies to my noble friend Lord Lea’s highly relevant question, I must say that I am beguiled by what he had to say, but I do not know that he had the evidence to establish those facts. In my intervention I asked him to give further and better particulars of how many companies have remuneration committees. He said that he would think about it. Furthermore, what proportion of public companies has adopted the policy? I am interested in the present position rather than what it will be in the future. Therefore what is the present situation? My noble friend said that companies are changing. How quickly are they doing so? Are we really seeing a revolution here, or is it just a bubble of words?
