Proceeding contribution from Baroness Morris of Bolton (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Thursday, 9 March 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Work and Families Bill.

Work and Families Bill

I thank the Minister for his answer. I am slightly disappointed. I think this is way outside the spirit of the purpose of statutory maternity pay. The Minister said that some things are already excluded. Women will receive their bonuses anyway. Do bonuses have to be part of the calculation? I do not know. Have you discussed with the experts prorating it, in the way put forward in the amendment? If not, perhaps you could. There is an injustice here.
