Proceeding contribution from Greg Clark (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Friday, 10 March 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill on Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Bill.
Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Bill
Does not the Bill meet precisely the objection that the Minister raises? Clause 1(2) requires:"““the relevant persons and bodies shall have regard to . . . the desirability of alleviating fuel poverty””." If my hon. Friend is right and such measures would increase the cost of fuel, that is precisely something that needs to be taken into account by the relevant persons, so that subsection deals with the problem either way.
