Proceeding contribution from Baroness Noakes (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Thursday, 30 March 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Company Law Reform Bill [HL].

Company Law Reform Bill [HL]

I thank the Minister for that reply. I completely understand that it is a requirement of the eighth directive. My reason for tabling the amendment was to try and tease out the constitutional position, since we are talking about individuals holding the office of Comptroller and Auditor General who are a special part of our constitutional arrangements. I hope the Minister will take that issue away and reflect on it, because I do not think that we should leave those sorts of issues unaddressed when passing such novel legislation. I hope we can pursue this matter outside the Committee. I beg leave to withdraw the Amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn.
