Proceeding contribution from Baroness Noakes (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Thursday, 30 March 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Company Law Reform Bill [HL].
Company Law Reform Bill [HL]
I can accept that there is more than one way to skin a cat, but I hope the Minister will also accept that it is a requirement that bodies exercising public functions should account for public moneys that go through them. The normal form for that is by financial statements, and that is not set out. Leaving it to what might or might not be put in some other power is not the correct approach. I will return to the matter on Report. I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave withdrawn. Clause 828 agreed to. Clauses 829 to 835 agreed to. Clause 836 [The register of auditors]:
