Proceeding contribution from Justine Greening (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 19 October 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill on Companies Bill (HL).
Companies Bill [Lords]
Generally, shareholders and the company would have redress if they felt that an audit had not led to an accurate audit opinion. The Enron case was in the US jurisdiction rather than in the UK, so it is probably not appropriate for me to comment on it in the UK Parliament. The Opposition are not convinced that a fresh offence is necessary.
