Fraud (Trials without a Jury) Bill
I am still answering the hon. and learned Member for Harborough. If hon. Members calm down a little, we will get through this. Secondly, our criminal justice system requires juries to listen to the presentation of oral evidence, and there is sometimes very complex and obscure evidence that requires knowledge of complex financial dealings. A jury trial, with its oral tradition, is not always the best place to expose and explain that level of complexity, in my view.
