Proceeding contribution from Tony Blair (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 25 June 2007. It occurred during Ministerial statement on European Council.

European Council

The hon. Gentleman is simply wrong about the common foreign and security policy. It remains intergovernmental: that is made absolutely clear in the overview article that I described earlier. He says that he has heard it all from me before— but frankly, I have heard it all from him before. [Interruption.] It is probably greatly to the benefit of both of us that neither of us will have to hear the other again. I cannot see the right hon. Member for Wokingham (Mr. Redwood) in his place—[Hon. Members: ““There he is!] I am sorry, his suit was camouflaging him on the Opposition Benches. About the Amsterdam treaty, the right hon. Gentleman said:"““If we sign the Amsterdam Treaty, we will abolish our country.””"
