Proceeding contribution from Lord Barnett (Labour) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 20 February 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill on Banking (Special Provisions) Bill.
Banking (Special Provisions) Bill
My Lords, I wonder whether my noble friend will allow me to intervene. In the last published statement of the report and accounts of Northern Rock, published last January, there is a reference by the chief executive in his report to total securitisation of £40.2 billion. Does Granite have any charge on the assets of Northern Rock before the Bank of England’s charge?
