Proceeding contribution from Earl Howe (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 6 May 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Health and Social Care Bill.

Health and Social Care Bill

I am grateful to the Minister for that largely reassuring reply. However, I shall have to read it because it seemed to me that part of what I understand as public health work can be approached only in a rather roundabout way by the commission and I am not sure that that quite meets the concerns expressed by some noble Lords in this debate. Nevertheless, the noble Baroness’s remarks throw some useful light on this area. I am grateful to all those who have spoken and I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. [Amendments Nos. 35 and 36 not moved.] Clause 5 agreed to.
