Proceeding contribution from Lord Deben (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Monday, 9 June 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill on Climate Change Bill [Lords].
Climate Change Bill [Lords]
Does my hon. Friend accept that merely labelling a tax with a polite name should not make it impossible for environmentalists to point out that some taxes work and some do not? We want a carbon tax that does the job properly, and is not a mere stealth tax that puts money into the Chancellor's pocket.
