Proceeding contribution from Brian Binley (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 9 July 2008. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Communities in Control.
Communities in Control
The Secretary of State has said that local government is vital, and I am sure that we all agree. However, the Government removed planning powers from local authorities in my constituency and set up a quango that paid little attention to local opinion. Is she now saying that she will scrap that quango and restore those powers to local authorities? If she is not, this White Paper will not be worth the paper it is printed on. ...Sustainable communities.
